ISL club Kerala Blasters announce their second foreign signing
ISL club Kerala Blasters’ second foreign signing has also been announced for the 2022-23 season of the Indian Super League. Spanish defender Victor Mongil has signed a contract with Kerala Blasters. The player who joins Kerala Blasters FC from ISL side Odisha FC. He will remain with the club till 2023. The player has tied the boots for ATK in 2020.
Victor has also represented the Spanish Under-17 national team. The 29-year-old Spaniard joins the Kerala club as a replacement for Bosnian defender Sipovic who left from Kerala Blasters. The Spanish defender started his playing career with Valladolid and played for their B team before representing the senior team in the 2011-12 season. He played for several clubs in Spain before joining FC Dinamo Tbilisi in 2019. The Spanish star played in the UEFA Europa League while playing for FC Dinamo Tbilisi.
The defender contributed more to his side’s Georgian Premier League success. The 29-year-old full-back played for ATK in the ISL 2019-20 season. During his one-year stint at Odisha FC, he made 19 appearances and made 70 clearances. In recognition of his commitment and role on and off the field, he was awarded the Wearing the hero’s armband.
Victor Mongil is KBFC’s second foreign signing of the summer season, following striker Apostolos Giannu, who was announced last week. The addition of Mongil, along with Marko Leskovic, who has signed a two-year contract extension with the club, will add more skill, experience and dominance to the Blasters defence.
