Polish striker Robert Lewandowski of German club Bayern Munich has been acquired by Spanish club Barcelona. This rumor has been around since the beginning of the summer transfer window, but the talks between the two clubs have only now seen success. Lewandowski has signed a 3-year deal with Barcelona for £42.5m (€50m).
Although English club Chelsea were also in the transfer battle for Lewandowski earlier, Barcelona overcame all those challenges and brought the Polish star to the Camp Nou. Regarded as the best striker in the world in recent years, the acquisition of Lewandowski is sure to be a huge asset for Barcelona in the coming seasons.
After Lionel Messi left Barcelona, several strikers were brought into the Barcelona team, but none of them were successful. It was in this situation that Barcelona set the net for Lewandowski. It remains to be seen how Xavi will use Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Memphis Depay and Lewandowski.
Lewandowski joined Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund in 2014. Lewandowski, Bayern Munich’s main striker since 2014, has scored 344 goals in 375 games for Bayern. Robert Lewandowski is the second highest goalscorer of all time in Bayern Munich’s football history. It is also very interesting to see who Bayern will bring in his place.
