It is evident that magical things happen when photography is combined with birding. Photography can uplift our perception permitting us to see the world more openly. Every year the National Audubon Society asks photographers from across the United States and seven Canadian territories to present their best bird photographs. With more than 6,000 entries, the 2020 Audubon Photography Awards was hotly challenged. Eventually American photographer Joanna Lentini dominated the competition for her supernatural photo of a twofold peaked cormorant plunging into the waters off Mexico.
